Artfully was engaged by Council’s Urban Design team to develop a Creative Strategy for the Manly Harbour Village Precinct Project, curate and to facilitate an artist selection process. The Creative Strategy required a thorough knowledge and understanding of the site and place context and history and the development of several scenarios with benchmarking for the commissioning of various public art opportunities. A shortlist of artists whose work related to the local context and would translate effectively into a gobo lighting projection opportunity was developed. Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo Collins was selected to develop work in a direct commission process. Her work ‘From the Hills to the Bay’ expresses First Nations seasonal connections to the lands and waters of this area.
